If you plan on going to Mashapaug do it soon because once Memorial Day rolls around you will be paying to get in there. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

I checked out Mashapaug Tuesday with a buddy, left the Kayaks at home and worked the shore. Bad Idea, got skunked from the shore and saw lots of fish rising out of reach. Saw a few fly fisherman from a boat get some trout and talked to a guy at the boat launch who got nothing. First time being there this early in the season, I normally kill largemouth there in late june and august.
Jim, is that new the paying to get in? I remember the year before last if you went on a weekday at like 3pm you got in for free. |

Mashapaug being a state park with picnic areas and all does charge for entrance once Memorial Day rolls around. Now I am pretty sure in the past the ticket booth was manned on the weekends probably by 7 or 8 o'clock but not during the week. So during the week you'll probably get in for free but on the weekends be sure to get there before the Parks Dept person does so you don't pay. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

even if you beat the ticket person there i believe they leave a slip on your car and you have to pay on your way out. At least thats what they do at the Congamond launch near Louis B's. _________________ Bass > Trout |

Hmm, I have never been there on the weekend. I tend to stick to weekdays to avoid the crowds, not sure if I would pay to fish Mashapaug when it's packed.
All of the state parks I went to in Mass had a fee, only difference was it was on the honor system. They had a bin your supposed to depost $2 everytime you visit. |
