On the water by 7:30 off the water at 10:30 after fighting 40+ mph winds. The lake was white cap city today. I rode the trolling motor continuo
usly when we pulled up to our spots. As a result after 3 hours even with it at top speed I couldn't stay on any spot. So with my arthritic right knee howling we called it a day early. Results were ok. I had 4 keepers. My son Josh had 1. All on the drop shot from 5-9 FOW. Water temps were lower today than last week 58-59 and we ran and fished a number of spots all over the lake. Temps were rather uniform.
Here' some pics.

The wind was so bad vision into the water was terrible, but I didn't see a single bed yet and I went into a couple of shallow coves from time to time just to try and get relief from the wind. With the drop in water temps, I think it will need to move up a few more degrees like into the mid 60s before there are a lot of them. |

I've seen only one largemouth bass on a bed so far this year. I've been to Batterson Park Pond, Ball Pond and Nod Brook WMA. My father-in-law has been fishing a small pond in the Poconos in eastern Pennsylvania, and he hasn't seen any at all in the shallows. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I went to quaddick res yesterday and i found a shallow flat cove that had tons of beds but no fish on them,i'm thinking they were getting ready for spawn but then when this last cold front came threw they moved of the beds. I think if the weather stays as they're predicting, then there should be some females back on beds by the middle of next week and a lot of them on beds by next weekend. By the way, nice job pappy!! _________________ this fish here is a real donkey!!! |

Many more smallmouth at Gardner and they spawn at colder water temps which is where the lakes generally are right now.
Agree that if the weather cooperates this weekend could be prime for LMBs on beds. |
