Been fishing Lillinonah recently with really no luck to speak of. We hit the water today and were fishing by sun up - hoping to catch a good morning bite since we haven't had much luck there the past few weekends launching after 7:00. The morning was overcast so we thought that might help as well. We fished above the Bridge, the Shepaug section, the dam area and everywhere in between - both the east and west sides. We were throwing primarily Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits and Jigs from the shore to about 15 feet of water. They wouldn't touch any of them. we managed one decent bass on a senko on a nice laydown. That was it. It hasn't seemed like they have been holding anywhere close to the shore or any of the ledges of the steep banks. We couldn't hit fish on the drop offs or on any laydowns. Is it that these fish are still deeper? Water temperatures were from 60-62 degrees. Anybody familiar with this lake that could provide some insight into what's going on there? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Fish someplace else. Lili is one deep and difficult body of water to figure out. Except for the few "gimmies"... which are the shallow weedy coves, much of that lake is virtually impossible to read.
Seriously, if you got a map of the place, and found some shallow structure, maybe... but otherwise, soakin live bait along the "cliffs" is probably your best bet. |
