You realize that it's a seasonal thing, right? They are usually in the river only in the Spring & Fall when the water is cooler! (usually between 50-70 degrees).

Is this area navigable in a small boat 12-14 footer or am I risking a lower unit?

Should be fine, i go there with my buddy in a 17 ft flat bottom Sundance Skiff but see many people with non flat bottom boats fish there fine. We launch from the boat launch right on the Windsor/Windsor locks line on 159. Right after Albert's Riverside Restaurant. We go up to the 140 bridge and drift back down to the island. Actually I'm about to go there in about an hour and hopefully snag a few stripers.

Are you guys getting any good size ones up here? I fish the 91 bridge in EW everyday and seem to be only getting schoolies.
