Headed to Chester this morning with Fishinschmoe (thanks for the trip and tips)
looking for some largies. They were a little picky today, tried many things, rubber, jigs, cranks but only managed 7 bass. They were probably in deeper water sucking up some freshly stocked trout. Almost the end of the day and sun getting hot when I got a strike like a train. Thinking its the 8#er that lurks among the shallows I set it hard and sent the hook home. After a little struggle and a couple rolls I see white belly and a lot of it. Tell FS I caught his big one only to see a large submarine type fish heading at me. At the end of it all was my personal best Pickerel and the largest either one of us had ever seen. Going just over 5 pounds on the boga and well over 2 feet in length, it was a blast.
Thanks again to FS, have to get out again soon.
Won't let me post a pic yet but should be in profile pic. |

hey skeeter.
the bite wasn't on. we scraped up a few buck bass, and that pickerel beast.
most of the dudes in there were trout fishin... and one guy even was givin us slack, cuz we went past his boat... if my tracker wasn't so freekin heavy, I would have taken it out of the water, and por-tauged for him... but I digress. Next time... Im gonna fire her up, and make some suds...
we could see some bedding activity, so my guess is that they are gearin up for the spawn in there. |
