Hit the ct river from 10am to 2pm. VERY slow day.
We started at the power plant and saw carp jumping but no stripers. Worked our way down the rocks and through the pilings without a bite. Then we made a run down to white oaks and got a few nibbles in the shade, but nothing else. Switched to my go-to lure and headed to wethersfield cove. Fished the right side on the way in and on the 3rd cast I reel the lure up to the boat only to find a 4 inch bass attached to it. The hook was in its mouth even though I didn't even feel a bite. Kept throwing the lure tight to cover and thought I had a snag, but then it took off in another direction. After a 5 minute fight, it came to the net, and it was my very first pike, a whopping 16". It's small, but I guess it's a start.

Cool. Couldnt help but notice you are in an "old school" Tracker!!
Great boat. The CT river is more finicky than a fine woman. you got spanked that day,... go back, and do the same thing, and you may drop the hammer on the fish. |
