Ugh. This is embarrassing. I never catch anything significant at this place. Always 4 inch bass, and usually after sunset. This time they were rock bass...ugh.
Fish 1:
Fish 2:
Nice day though.

Turtlekiss.. you must like gettin reamed by the local Po-Po's.
Batterson is off limits after dark... I was virtually "cavity searched" there one summer nite, looking for the nite bite there.
Batterson is a weird pond. this time of year, there are some good bass there and even walleye. once it warms up, who knows where they go.
All I know, is Im WAY over due to get my butt out there ... any where |

I've fished batterson six times for the last few weeks and haven't even caught a bite. I fish from off the dock and every cast im pulling in weeds. I usually fish either 9 am -12pm or from 4 pm - 6 pm. I was gonna give up on it but this post gives me some hope. _________________ CDXX - |

It looks like at least you had a beautiful night on the water! There are fish. I promise. give it another week or so to warm up a little, then throw some topwater on the left side (facing the water from the ramp) back where it goes from relatively deep up to a rock ledge, then a flat. That flat back there has some fish in it and they also spawn over there. I had a couple days over there where they took the paint off my Reaction Innovations Vixen walked at medium speed pretty close to shore. This was mostly between 5 and 7PM back when I went to batterson often. |

There's always shady people not fishing there. They never bother me, but it does make me nervous since it takes me about 15 minutes to load up my boat and gear once I reach shore. There were people sitting in a car for 2 hours while I was on the water...they finally left after a police vehicle circled through the lot. In the summer there's often anglers fishing for catfish from shore at night...they fillet them there and leave their coconut-sized heads behind. The DEP guide doesn't say anything about the park closing at dark.
Phish - I was fishing those flats early on, when the wind was reasonable...had to tilt the trolling motor up and row because it was so shallow. Of course, while I was fishing that spot, some guy in a kayak caught a (1lb.) largemouth on a senko in about 5 FOW behind me. So I fished deeper, along the left side...went about halfway down, then crossed to the other side. 5 to 7 p.m. is still a bit early...after 8 is when the feeding frenzy occurs (especially to the left of the launch) but that coincides with the time I usually have to leave. I try to get home before my husband so he doesn't think I fish all day while he's at work.
The place has potential & it's a quick drive for me but I don't like being there at night without a partner. _________________ Kira
