Made use of the nice weather today and took a hike to Mashapaug.

Got there at 8am and almost soiled myself when both lots down the road from the lake were full of trailers, but it turned out well when someone was leaving because of engine troubles. Took their parking spot after we launched.

Started out fishing the shore on the right near the launch and picked up a 1 lb lmb on a shiner. Nothing for the next hour so we made a run up to the north end of the lake but got nothing for another hour.

Went to the east shore and picked up a 12 inch trout on a shiner. Ran out of shiners(only two left from previous trip) and put on a deep diving crankbait. Worked the deep structure(gigantic boulders and logs) and got nothing. Went through the thin channel between the east shore and the island and saw what appeared to be a 17"-18" walleye swimming near the bottom. It wouldn't take the crankbait so I moved down a little and put on a white spinner bait seeing that the wind was starting to whip up. Threw the spinner near a point when the wind was pushing 20 mph and it felt like I had a snag. Then the line started to move and this fish took to the skies and then the net.

Kindof a slow day but it was a nice lake to visit.

Great job spending time with your kids during school vacation. It won't be too long until other things start to occupy thier lives. Cheers to you dad!

Sounds like a fun outing. That place can fish tough. What were the surface water temps when you were there?

Slimecoat,

Our fishfinder is from the dark ages so all it gives us is the depth and the graph.

But, the water temp still felt fairly cold, but I noticed that it has warmed up a bit in the past few weeks.

When the money comes we will go the whole nine yards for a fish finder. Very Happy

AND,

MarkO,

The kid in the picture is the one posting. Very Happy

Your fishfinder has a GRAPH??? LOL mine looks like a Tiger Electronics handheld game from the early 80's. It's embarrassing, but it works for depth.
