Skeeter Jim and I hit Coventry this past Monday from 7:30 to 1ish.
Water temp was between 52/53, clear and sunny skies at times, water was clear to 4'-5' FOW. But the wind, OMG!!!
The wind was around 20+mph, white caps on the water at least 1'+ waves.
We threw jigs, swimbaits, jerk baits, spinner baits. We did ok, nothing worth photoing.
Few rock bass, smb, lmb and I even caught two trout (odd). Couple of good sized lunkers followed the baits back to the boat.
Not a bad day. Always laughing while fishing.

Wind.....try more like a hurricane. If we opened up our jackets and caught the wind it would have felt like we were competing in the Americas Cup!! _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

It was bad...!
At one point I turn to Jim and said, OMG it's like being out on Lake Erie.

Sounds like just another blustery day on Coventry Lake. Pointing dog has caught trout on jerkbaits before at Coventry too, pretty common occurance. Anything that resembles a shiner type bait they hit pretty good. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

In the fall on any trout lake I've had large trout follow and smash swimbaits before as well as spinnerbaits. Also had a big brown whack a rebel popr in the morning at West Hill during the summer haha but he came off at the boat |

It was funny, I have never fished for Trout and it was my first. I caught it on a Spro ghost minnow jerk bait. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |

The wind is not a natural occurence… I developed a wind generator to keep guys off my spots… looks like it worked like a charm…so words to all, no need to go to Coventry Lake, just not worth it!!

Club TOurney results.
Water was around 57degs, clear calm most the day, lite wind from the north.
I hit the flats on the west side, rocks on the north side, tried a drap shot on a deep hole, fished the cove on the southend.
I caught more trout then bass. NO MORE JERK BAITS on this lake for me, I tried spinner baits (which is what I caught my lunker on (not, only 1.2 lbs smb).
Then a voice called out to me from the shore... Yes God is that you? NO you idiot, it's Pointing Dog.
So, after a little words of wisdom and 2hrs left to fish; I had many more hits on the bait and in the area that PDog told me about, but they just would not hook up. They kept short striking it.
Next time. I still did better then some guys. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
