Fished Ball Pond yesterday. I thought I'd make my 1st post here a good one. Started at 8am . My 1st bass was caught on a rattletrap shortly after starting. It was approx. 10" and it would be the only bass caught on a moving bait and also it would be the smallest.
The water temp was 70deg and it was cool and cloudy and quite breezy in the am. Fished my way to the northern weed flat with only a couple only bass around 1 1/2lbs to my credit. I was trying to meet up with my young friend Alex who started early at 5:30 am. Finally met up with him at 10am. At this time I only had caught 7 bass. But just before meeting up I catch a real nice bass at 4lbs even. Alex took a picture from his boat.
I caught a few more in this area on the dropshot. And at about 12:30 we went our seperate ways. Alex started back towards the launch and I went back to the northern weed flat.
Whrn I got back to the wed flat I had 14 bass for the day. But only one real decent bass. But this was about to change. I have spot where I have had some pretty good luck with a Jig&Pig.
1st cast with the jig produces a bass at 2lb 12oz. The 2nd cast gets one at 3lb 7oz.
And on the next cast another about the same size comes unbuttened on a jump.
Well I fished this area for another 3hrs and get 2 bass at an even 3lbs
And the largest of the day at 4lb 10oz
When I left this area at 4:30 I had 36 bass for the day.
I fished my way back to the launch using the dropshot and a grub in the deeper water and the jig in the weeds. Caught a few on the dropshot but the next pig came also on the jig. At 3lb 3oz
And then last but not least my 41st bass of the day weighed in at 4lb 2oz
I got off the water at 6pm real tired but extreamly happy. _________________ Jim Boyne

JimFish,
I looked up Ball Pond ( so I can have a day of fishing like you ) and noticed it has a motor restriction. I looked back at your photos and do I see your in a row boat?
You rowed from 8am to 6pm and caught 41 BASS.. ! You my friend are a fishermens Fisherman!!
WOW. I don't think I could even do that.. Thats really great. I was impressed with your catch of the day, but now I see you worked hard for it.
GOD BLESS YOU JimFish.. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
