Went to the west thompson lake today from 11:00 to 1:00
Was expecting it to be pretty calm at the lake but as soon as i pulled up i could see it was not what i was expecting, it was really windy! A steady 10-15 mph wind with 20 plus gusts quit often.
Over all it was a decent bite for only being on the water for 1hr 45min, picked up two largemouthes right off the bat on a rattle trap up on a 3-5ft flat. Threw the trap for about another 15 min without any bites then decided to drive to the opposite side shoreline because the sun was hitting it better. Went right to a spot thats always good in the summer that is another shallow flat with lots of bolders, got two small smallies and a 2.5lb largie all on a dark brown and orange 1/8 oz jig with zoom trailer. I also tried throwing a jerk bait and a shakey head/finesse worm rig but no luck on those. Didn't get anything to big,but they kept me pretty busy. Water temp was only between 50-54 deg. _________________ this fish here is a real donkey!!! |

Man do I miss fishing up there! The river that feeds that lake can be awesome when some rains have fallen and the current is moving. The place was always hard to fish, but on occasion we got some big girls out of there. The cove in front of the dam always looked so good but never produced squat. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. |

Unfortunetly those were all my pre-kid fishing days. Always had a buddy or two that didn't mind taking a hike all around the state to fish. |
