Out on the lake just before sun up, air temp:35, water temp:cold as hell, wind:windy as hell....Going for Pike, not a single one all day! I threw spoons of all sizes, swimbaits, jerkbaits, eveything but live bait, nothing.....I could possibly just suck at catching Pike.........Temp was 38 when I left at 10:15.....Winchester 2, Sniper 0........

I'm sick of the weather reports being wrong.
Same situation here...was supposed to be 60 and no winds more than 5 mph. Turned into a frikkin' cold-ass windstorm. Only caught a slimedart.

I'm insane and it would take some serious lightning for me to stay home Saturday. I don't mind cold and rain, but it sucks when you're not prepared for it because the weather reports are all made up. We'll see how that 49 & rain changes - I'm gonna guess it will become "partly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain." Either way, I'll be dressed in layers and have poncho & bilge pump with me.

Screw it, I'll go in severe lightning too.

I was anticipating that kind of weather and was happy about it cuz i was hoping to hook into the big toothy bastards, thought the cold and overcast would be good for it....It still sucked paddling against that wind on that place! But tomorrow after work im hitting the BPT DMV to register my canoe so i can hit opening day on beach pond for trout and no paddling.Maybe hook into some Kokanee...wish me luck

I took my boat down to Winchester last weekend and was one of about six boats trying to navigate through that stumpy hell against a wicked wind and current (they were running a lot of water through there after the heavy rains.) My boats a 17' deep v and we caught the wind pretty good....chewed up the trolling battery trying to work against the current/wind.....we threw everything at the bass and pike and were totally skunked....two tail-grabbing hits in the cove to the left from the launch, but nothing else.....my finder spotted lots of fish in the stumpfield, suspended at about 8' and I threw crankbaits and spinnerbaits and swimbaits.....nothing biting but stumps.
Now I see why there is an 8mph limit there.....I hardly dared to do even near that......water was 42.2 degrees at the launch but felt colder. We gave Winchester a shot because we couldn't fish Highland (which I love) but I probably wouldn't go back to Winchester unless I was paddling.

Bass Sniper, don't forget once you put a motor on your canoe as you have already mentioned the need to register it but you will also need a boating certificate to operate it once that motor is on there. As crazy as it sounds it is the law.
