Decided to take the wife fishing yesterday. Headed to Bantam only to find a DEP Rep blocking the boat launch stating it was closed because it was filled to capacity. Decided to head further NW and hit Winchester Lake. Managed 1,000,000,000 rock bass and 2 pickeral. All in all, good day with the wife and we beat the rain. ALl fish were caught on a hula-popper and a rapala popper - perch color. _________________ HONEY, I'LL BE HOME FROM FISHING IN A COUPLE OF HOURS, I PROMISE! |

That lake has more stumps than any other lake I have fished in Ct. You think it would hold tons of bass.
I have never done to well there nor has anyone I know. _________________ GET HOOKED! tm |

Always nice to get out as long as you can catch something!! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

I have actually caught some massive fish out of there( up to 7 1/2 lbs) but they are far and few between trips. |

Winchester is (I guess was) one of my favorite places to hit. it is a challenge, but it has some pigs in it and is the only place that you can fish so much timber in. I hit a 6 1/2 there this spring on a chatterbait, and know of several fish over 8 out of there (in the past 10 years). If you put your time in there, you will do well eventually.
Most of the time, it feels like your just picking through the rats. Hit it under better conditions (night, pre spawn, cloudy/rainy) and it will reward you. |
