|
|
I tried to get out for my first trip of the year in the morning, but after two false starts, both times forgetting the kayak paddle... I decided to hold off until later.
I hit up Morey Pond starting around 5:45PM and getting off the water at 7:30PM. I lost a jerk bait to a tree early on and thought my luck from the morning was continuing. I focused on shallow water with a white fluke from that point and missed one. Glad I stuck with it and stayed in the shallows. While I only caught one fish, it was my PB, weighing in at a hair over 5 pounds. Not a bad start to the season - hope that carries through!

Sweet fish, look at that belly full of eggs, or blue gill!
It's nice to see that Morey Pond still has some nice fish in it. Pointing Dog and I cut our teeth fishing that place 20 years ago. At one time there were more pickeral there than anything else. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing

Very nice fish! That fish could have easily eaten the biggest bass I have caught there! |

Thanks guys. I haven't been out to Morey much, but it is pretty close by and easy to get around in the kayak. I stayed on the boat launch side this time around since I didn't have a lot of time.
I hadn't caught much of size there so the 5 pounder was a surprise... Definitely a chunky fish - towed me around in the kayak for a bit |

Nice one Shorty, congrats! Last time I was there was before the dam re-construction. May have to take a trip back. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!
