I actually use the clinch a lot or variations of the clinch. Trilene is similar, thats a good one. But will sometimes throw the palomar. I dont know why it really just depends on the mood im in i guess....weird i know. _________________ "Taco flavored Doritos

I use the palomar myself. It just seems like I lose less lures with that knot than the clinch. |

I use 3 different knots depending on what I'm tying to or what kind of presentation. Palomar, clinch, and an inline knot to ty braid to floro, or mono to floro etc.. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Palomar or SanDiego Jam Knot,..depending on how big the bait is or how hard it is to get the palomar loop over the bait!
In case you care,..here's the SDJK. FWIW, I've seen a few pros using it in the last year or two:

The SDJK is very similar to the improved clinch knot.
Just for a bit more clarification the reason I say the palomar is because it doubles up the line going through the eye of the lure hence the improved strength. Problems do arise when using larger weight lines and whether a doubled up line can actually pass through the eye of the lure. In that case I would use the improved clinch. |
