I hit Lower Bolton Lake with my 5 year old yesterday from noon to 2:30pm. The surface water temp was 44 to 45 degrees, with sunny skies, and a pretty good breeze most of the afternoon. The air temp was in the low 70's, the water clarity was slightly stained, and the fishing was slow. Fairly good weed cover for early season, but did not mark many fish with the electronics.
I did manage to catch 2 keeper largemouth, both about 13.5 inches. One on a green pumpkin tube, the other on a lucky craft live pointer bone body. I lost my first weight and hook combo of the season to a sharp tooth ridden slime dart that cut me off clean on the hook set. All fish marked were on or near the bottom. Another 5 degrees and the fish will really turn on and think about moving around more, right now they are still just too cold. My little guy got the skunk, but he had fun and really wanted to go swimming the entire time we were there. He did get his shoes and socks all wet when I was loading up, and had plenty of snacks on the boat to keep him busy. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

No Billy Bass, we were in my green 16 foot alumacraft bass boat. How did you do? I wanted to stay longer but my son was getting bored, and wanted to go home and ride his 4 wheeler.
Mark it was a great afternoon. I just wish a fish would have hit my son's senko. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

I wear my 18" high rubber boots for loading up there when the water is cold. Good job catching them, I knew that the fishing was going to get better when we left, as the sun warms things up later in the day this time of year and the bite tends to get better in the late afternoon. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Absolutely, i was just happy to be able to get out on a 70 degree day in march, that's pretty much unheard of. Then to catch 2 keepers..... it was a great day. It wouldn't have mattered if I got the skunk, it was quality time with my boy! _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Yeah the Skunk sucks, but I wouldn't complain about it even if I got the skunk. I don't ever remember being out twice by the middle of March in 70 degree weather. No complaints here, not when it could still be snowing this month. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
