Anyone have recommendations for "cast-able thermometers" for ponds or lakes where you can't get a boat on???

I have this neat little thing i got from ebay that is a depth sounder. It tells you whether where you are pointing it has fish, water temp, air temp, depth of water, all sorts of different things. was only like 50$ if i remember correctly. got it for ice fishing but works in open water too, just point and click.

Yep. those things seem cool... or you can try the cheap-o routine, get a thermometer that looks like a little ball... skiers get em, and clip em on their ski jackets.

Swtich out the clip with a large weighted snap... and it takes casting abuse...

Thanks for the suggestions. I saw a model online shaped like a pen, but I wasn't sure how durable it was.
