Use major caution man. Ive been pokin thru lots of posts, and the consensus is that the ice is "shaky" at best.
Bring your spud bar, and your ice picks, and stay away from any in or outlets, as they surely have moving water, which eats ice rapidly.
As much as I like fishin, I didn't even consider heading out this weekend. My kids need their dad more than I need another fresh fish fry...
luckily, the fresh bought sole was actually really good tonite... |

Heres an idea... Find a pond that is stocked with trout. Then find a spot on that pond where the ice is retreating a ways.
Cast TINY terrestrials (worms, and the like) or tiny suspending cranks right onto the ice, and pull them so they "fall off the edge".
IF the conditions are right, that is a killer way to catch a creel limit of trout. |

I fished the tornament at Mt Tom Sunday (skunked), but two buddies tried to fish Candlewood just south of Lynn Deming Park. The edges were fine but when they got out about 20 feet both fell through, one halfway and the other right under. Both got out OK, and being true addicts went home and changed and found another spot on Candlewood that was OK.
I am putting the sled away and cleaning up the boat! |
