In my humble opinion...
Considering the daily temps, the amount of rain, the angle of the late Feb Sun...and the 2/28 season close for trout ladened waters,
The Fat Lady is starting her second verse; and the curtains are half way to closed on the 09-10 Ice Fishin Season.
This weekend, Im gonna "summerize" (is that the opposite of witherize?) my gas auger, clean out the sled, and pack my schidt away, and get the bass boat ready for some pike fishin, once the CT river calms down. |

haha yeah i can hear that fat lady singing away. Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter.
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here.
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right. Haha bring on the rain and warmth and melt that ice, cuz the lake is calling my name. |

I was going to tell you not too because I still hear about people being on the ice but, with the highs staying around 35º-40º with some rain/snow and next weeks sun maybe you SHOULD pack it up...
I hope to get on the ice at least 1 or 2 more times this year...
I know of two local places that had THICK BLACK ice _________________

The ice surely won't "melt away", but with 3 days of rain?? you get that white/cloudy mushy CRAP that has no tensile strength.
Add the longer days, and stronger sun, and warming days, odds are not in our favor.
Its been a pretty decent year, not the best, but decent... and its probably time to strart sniffin lead fumes, and makin a few batches of weedless jig heads for some jiggin and piggin. |

I'll be at Bantam to end the season Friday thru Sunday. They got all snow pretty much this storm with some sleet and light rain, and with a big rainstorm tomorrow then chaning back to snow ice should be good except for were Bantam river comes in. |
