SeaDog...

Yeah it's MUCH TO COLD! Shocked But, as you said early next week is gonna be proper with the potential for ice to form over the weekend.

I went out yesterday to check the ice on this small local pond and it was only 2", maybe 2.5" in it's thickest spot...so clearly I did not go ice fishing as planned.

Stay safe and warm everyone!

Hi Guys!

It's not the temperature that bothers me -> It's the WIND!
Cold temps is easy to handle -> BUT WIND !@#$% Exclamation

Have had to deal with wind all my career at sea.
Example:
Was 600 miles east of Cape Cod (Oct. 1991) -> Yes! The REAL PERFECT STORM! -> Captain, 193 ft. ship, 38 crew, down to 1 engine (6 kts.) and rode out 80 to 100 ft seas for 2 days.
Brought ship and crew home SAFETLY -> Bruised and Battered but SAFE Exclamation

I can wait for Monday when temps are a bit higher and winds are down Exclamation Very Happy
Best regards,

wow seadog, it is quite evident from your post that you have a lot of knowledge, but I didn't realize you are career captain. If you ever get the time and feel up to it, post some stories in the general section about your adventures. I am sure you have a ton and I know I would be interested in reading. That must be one hell of a job. Glad you and your crew made it out of the perfect storm alive, that must have been one stressful voyage.
