Anyone heard if these ponds are frozen over yet looking to go out tommorow. I know its been cold enough.

Hi!

Those are big waters!
Up here in the NW corner most of the big waters are STILL very questionable!

As of Today 1/05/10
Colebrook Res. is open water from the boat ramp to the dam.
Hogback has open leads and wet spots.
Highland 2nd bay and 3rd bay still have open leads and wet spots. (1st bay seems to be Ok!)
It's the WIND that keeps these water unsafe or questionable not the temperature. NEED Calm almost windless days to get ice to form.

If you plan to try any of these waters;

1.) Go with a buddy Exclamation

2.) Have rope, neck spikes, and a whistle Exclamation

3.) Spud your way out on the ice every 2 or 3 feet Exclamation

4.) Be mindful that underwater springs can be anywhere Exclamation

5.) Always good to ask other icefishermen, that fish these waters regularly, what info they can give you.
6.) SAFETY IS ALWAYS YOUR 1st PRIORITY WHEN ICE FISHING Exclamation

I have been hearing they are okay i have about 5 guys going

Parts of Pachaug are frozen like the lathrups cove has 4 inches thats all I know and I doubt beach pond is frozen because that pond is huge and has very little hills and coves to be out of the wind. Word through the grape vine is that Gardner is frozen and people are catching nice walleyes out of there

Beach Pond is Fd up. Im willing to bet my next paycheck, the middle is still wide open, and stuffed with geese and diver ducks. Dunno why, but it stays open forever, but you will see guys ice-fishin the edges. No thanks!!

I should say the right side of beach going towards RI have had some awsome luck there

2 weeks ago Beach pond was frozen a good 7 inchs, guys all over the lake, fires going, it was a nice site.. I'll be at Patchaug this weekend, hopefully it's alright
