I went and bought three new tip-ups that were better made than the ones I already have, so I took them and my jigging rod down to a local pond yesterday morning to try them out.
I was only using my three new tip ups and one hole for jigging. I stayed only an hour (I planned it to be a quick trip I work nights and went directly after work). Within the first 10 mins I saw a flag fly and hooked into a nice, chunky 2.6lb largemouth (weighed on my new digital scale). Biggest bass through the ice this year for me so far.
I was on the shore looking for potential lures left behind when I saw another one of my tip ups shake, I turned to head towards it and the flag popped. By the time I got there however my bait had been robbed.
The sun started to really rise and the ice started to settle like crazy and being alone that spooked me good, so I decided an hour was enough.
I plan to get back out there with a few more tip ups and a buddy, but I want to check a topo map of the pond so I know where the streams feed into it, try to avoid weak ice. I have a pic of the largie, but I have to add a few pics to my CTFishtalk album before I can post it, so I'll get to it later. _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

No, this time I wasn't at Silver, it is a small and I believe unnamed pond a town over from where I live.
The last time I was on Silver the ice was 6" or so in the spot I was at with about an inch of water in places on top. I am unsure about now, though I may be back there sometime over the weekend.
Good luck! _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Pdcrack- Thanks for the hook up with the link. None of the other pics I've posted on this site from that same camera came out that way so I was a little surprised. haha
And yea man, it's not THAT big. _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Tips on getting smaller pics...
Save the pic to your PC.
Open it, and edit its dimensions. Yours camera is probably deafulting to 1300 X 1600 or something. bring her down to 200X200, then stick her up there. |
