Took a half-day off and hit Pataconk with my kayak yestarday afternoon. Mostly overcast skies and a light to moderate breeze for the time I was out there. I began with a swim-jig in a sunfish pattern (green pumpkin with some white & orange). I got 2 bass (3 bites total) in about 2 hours with it before I switched up to a black & blue color which turned out to be a bit more productive. Ended up with 9 bass on the day,...best 5 would've been 14-15lbs . Biggest was 4.0.
Everything was on the jig,..nothing on a dropshot or swimbait which I also threw quite a bit! Fish were about a 50/50 mix,...swimming the jig above shallow grass versus bottom bouncing around the outside weedline. Water & fish both felt cool,...I'd guess around 65 degrees,..maybe a little less! Cool

I don't know how your setup is Ron,..however you should be aware that the closest that you can get to the water with your truck at Pataconk is about 40-50 yds. I have wheels with my kayak so it's no problem for me,..however if I had to carry everything to & from the water it'd be a real pain and I would never bother with the place!
Just wanted to warn you ahead of time! Wink
(You could always turn around and hit Cedar though, so if you want to go take a look first and then decide,..there is a fallback!)

If you guys don't have wheels for you kayak or canoe. I fish with my 10 ft tin can fastened to its trailer and I drag it around. It sucks draggin it up hills and steep inclines but on flat land it moves pretty good. I loop the chains around my waist an walk forward. Pays off though pullin out an 18 inch smallmouth out of the Farmington River. Also when the launches are packed I unhook the boat and manually launch my tin can. Comes in handy opening day at West Hill or Highland...

Mark,

The Twin Toller has Quick Launch wheels that make is easy to go where there is no ramp.

Here is a video > http://www.cttwintrollerboats.com/dolly_demo.php

It wreally make it easy to move the boat around.

Ron

Hey Bluegill, where do you launch your tin can in the Farmington River?
