Private Pond in Stafford
Water temp: in the 70's
Air: Upper 70's
Time: Dusk

I have had an awful summer catching fish. Up until last night I had 1 bass for the summer...and about 5 trips that were all out skunks. Probably the worst dry spell of fishing I've ever had. I wasn't even catching cookie cutters on drop shot rigs.

Anyhow, I decided that I was going to learn the way of the jig. Especially from seeing what Just4Fun catches on a regular basis. Smile So last night my wife and I went fishing and told her I was only using the jig no matter how many fish she caught. I had a blue/black strike king jig with a YUM blue/black craw trailer. I was having zero luck with the yo-yo method, and no luck with the really slow twitch. So I was pulling the jig up about 6ft from the boat and WHAM. I missed the hookset. Okay, so they want something a little quicker?

So I increased the speed and added a twitch and WHAM. It was turning on a light! Five bass on the next 7 casts including a solid 2-2.5 pouder! I was so pumped toI figured this out. This is the joy fishing, figuring out what they want and getting the fish to bite.

I know most of you guys figured this out a while ago but I'm happy.

Then things switched off, I switched to topwater for the last 15 minutes before we headed home. The wife got her first perch which she was excited about because it looks so much cooler than sunnies and bass lol

Thanks guys for always answering questions and the learning that goes on within the posts.

Ya the jig is hard to learn. I finally caught my first bass on a jig last Sunday at Crescent Lake. Tiped a blue/black BOOYAH jig 1/2 oz with a blue/black flake crazy legs chigger craw. Like the 12th cast as it was fallin a 10 inch bass nailed it haha. Hit like a ton of bricks. Next time I got to try it from my boat...
