Hit Bantam last night. Got on the water at 7:30pm. Fished around the front of Deer Island...no takers. Decided to go towards the point across from the jump.
Good thing! First cast I land my biggest this year and my biggest from Bantam,
5lb 5oz Largie on a 4" Yum Grub 1/8oz jig head in 8 fow. Nice!. Picked up a few other 2 lbers on the way down the bank towards the beach.

sorry no pics...I remembered the scale no camera sorry. The 5 lber was pretty nice but seemed a little skinny for its length, could have been a 6 lb + Fish easily

Started throwing spinnerbaits after dark, headed back towards the rock pile/ hazard buoys, A few nice smallies there as well. My partner and I boated 10 fish total. We got off the water at around 11:15pm

Water temp around 78 deg. The water clarity was probably the worst I've seen it, green and stained maybe 2ft visability. Water level higher than usual, alot of docks just under the water.

The launch..well not as bad as I thought. A little tricky backing in with that stump on the left, scraped the underside of my trailer in one spot. It would be a big pain alone. I winched up the boat with ease.

I went to the boat launch guy today and paid my 8 bucks, he seemed amazed that I came back to pay. I got some good points there!

I wouldnt want to launch there on the weekends or in the day time for that matter, it must be crazy with pleasure boaters and street traffic. there is no rushing or multiple launching going on there.

I think an early morning launch would be ok (before 6am). Just loading up would be pretty nasty and time consuming with all the boats and traffic.

Thanks for the report and the ramp update.

Any word on the "other" old DEP ramp? Still closed I assume.

I spoke with a friend of mine today who brings his jetski there. He said he just went to the state launch and put his ski in. There was no one around. My luck I'd get towed! The gate was unlocked both times I have driven by

The launch is a little hairy..just enough room...just. You would just have to take your time. I'm sure one newbie boater to the ramp and it would be all over.

You definately need a good wing man for the deal!

For me on Wednesday it was worth it!!!
