Fished Lake Wylie in South Carolina a little today. I was working, so I wasn't the one doing most of the fishing, but I was able to get the line wet a few times.
Water temps were high 85s to 90.
Air temp topped out at 87.
Partly cloudy
Fished in 0-2 FOW
We prmarilly targeted docks and wood today with cranks, poppers, a wake bait, and a Kelly Jordan (Lucky Craft) topwater prop bait. The fish were pounding the shallows chasing shad and spawning brim. The guy I was working with caught fish on all of the above and probably had 18 pounds for his best 5. I caught 4 for 9-9.5 pounds. Best was 3.5 on a popper just off the bank next to a dock piling. Caught a 1.5 on the Rick Clunn wake bait and a 2.5 pounder on the KJ prop bait.
Amazing how many fish were shallow in the heat of the summer. |

Nice report Phish, way to fish and work at the same time. How does that work anyway? What line of work are you in? _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Well it certainly helps fuel the passion!
I varied the retrieve on the wake bait. I was fishing it around and over wood, so I'd run it fast, then stop it, twitch, then run. It got taken at pretty much a full waking retrieve about 3 seconds after hitting the water. |
