Went out today and fished 20 Minute lake. Air temp was 51 water temp was 72. Launched at 5 AM and off the water at 11 AM. No abundance of watercraft today. My fishing partner today was one of my old Seawolf Bassmasters club member Bob Sylvia. When we launched the fog was coming off of the water. We wasted no time and went right to top water. 100' from the boat launch Bob nails one on a Jitterbug. Nice LMB on his first cast. His second cast produced a nice SMB. I had a few blow ups on the Zara Spook but couldn't close the deal. Once again looks like the boys are rocking. I got to another spot and nothing doing. No topwater and no jig action. Onwards to spot #3. I decide to drop shot. Cast out and get bit right away. Bring it in and say this isn't a bass. Was a 16" Walleye. We released it and got bit again and was cut off immeadiately. I retie and now Bob wants to drop shot. I say cool. He started geting bit also. We see a Bass tender fishing in a cove and they moved across the lake. We fished our spot awhile longer and went near them. They watched us fish. All of a sudden Bob says fish on. Then my line gets tight I say he must have snagged me but wasn't the case we had doubles. Two SMB on and jumping like crazy. Nothing huge just keepers. We look at each other and thought it doesn't get any better then this. We went around the lake hitting a few spots and the drop shot was the ticket today. All fish came out of 2-10' of water. All said and done between the two of us we boated over 30 fish. Walleye, Smallies, Largemouth and 2 pickeral were the tickets of the day.Nothing over 2 LBS but we had a blast. Once again a great day fishing with friends. No huge fish but we had action almost all day long. After the topwater ended the wind was really whipping. I think this helped us a lot as the fish were in the feeding mode. We left the ramp and promised to get together to fish again soon. Nothing beats fishing with friends and catching fish Smile

If you read my reports and requests for partners you will have solved this. 20 Minute lake is 20 minutes from my home. You have the baits and techniques listed. Temperature, time of day and conditions are also mentioned. I thought of this as a rather tongue in cheek way of reporting without getting some of my local lakes pounded into submission. You can always pm me. Hell I'll even take you out if you'd like. I advertise for open seats all the time. Thanks for the comments.

Where's 8 min lake? I'm in New Britain right near Plainville. I'd love to catch smallies around here. The only one I can think of with walleye's is Batterson

It's right near 8:45 minute lake and 9:15 lake. Batterson sucks by the way. I did pick up a nice eye in early May coming in at 16 inches but thats all just monster white perch and stunted 7 inch yellow perch.

20 min lake as the crow flys? If it 's by the way my wife drives then it's 40 min lake, if by the way I drive 12 min lake.

I'm so confused..

by considering the given time to destinations, I have determined the lakes of discussion using method of triangulation. If anyone wants to know the lists, send me your bass boat and i will provide directions.

I recently moved to New Britain, so whats 8 mins away with shore fishing? and not Batterson.

I have not really tried trooping around much, only found a small pond right off Exit 23 on Rt 9 with a couple lame spots to fish from, although I finally pulled out about a 2lb LMB the other day.

Rookie, that is called Brickyard Ponds along Rt 9 because before it filled up they used to manufacture bricks they dug up from the clay pits. There is also another pond before that off of Christian Lane and Rt 372. As for other ponds 8 minutes from New Britain you have A.W. Stanley Quarter pond in N.B., Martha Hart pond in N.B., Papergoods Pond in Berlin, Silver Lake in Berlin, Paderewski Pond in Plainville, Hamlin Pond in Plainville, 1860 Resevoir in Wethersfield, Mill Pond in Newington, and other various small bodies not sure if access is available or if it is worth fishing. One of the best source for all and small bodies of water is the Delorme Topographic Map Book. As for the other source the Guide to CT Lakes and Pond sold by the CT DEP.
