After being humbled on 12 minute lake on 2 occasions last week I got serious today. No excuses about sleeping in on vacation yada yada yada. Arrived at 5 AM and the top water activity was good as the fog was lifting off of the water. My partner today was PW/ Pappy aka Walt. He arrived with his usual assortment of gear. He was very well prepared lol. Water temp was in the low 70's and dead calm. We could see schools of bait busting on the top so we wasted no time in getting underway. I throw a Pop-R and connect with a 12" LMB. Ok looking good. Caught a few more but nothing of any size. Pappy throws the senko to a nice laydown and bam he's on fish. Things starting to look good for the home team. Walt stayed with the worm and I abandoned the top water after experimenting with a frog and a zaraspook . Drop shot .. nothing doing. I finally surrender and start to throw the Jiggystix. The wind picks up a bit. We decide to fish up into the wind and it paid off for us. We caught no lunkers. We did boat a few in the 2- and 2 1'/2 LB size. We had 15 keepers and we were happy. Fish were holding between 2-8' of water. I think the wind was the factor that turned on the fish. We had the lake to ourselves. A great trip, thanks PW it was a pleasure fishing with you again. Walt will post the pics. We got off the water just before noon. Always a great day when you can fish with a friend. |
