Hit Candlewood with a Mike Dean, a student of mine from this past year. He was up and waiting as promised at 6:00.

We were on the water about 7:30 after tying his four set ups before we launched.

We didn't have much success it looked like it would pout often until around noon. He had a good sized rock bass and I only a perch after a full day of fishing. We headed back to the launch and I make what winds up being my last cast of the day with a drop shot right on the outside weed edge just outside echo bay. Mike makes a cast and cast snaps my line in the process. I tell him don't worry about it well just head in once I get the set up hand lined in.

It was heavier than expected because I was sure I was outside the weedline and when I get the set up back to the boat, I was surprised to find this 3# lmb on the other end with the drop shot hook firmly imbedded in the roof of his mouth! Thanks for the assist Mike!!

Even though the fishing wasn't very good, Mike enjoyed riding around the lake and making tons of casts and I enjoyed the company. He'd like to go again, we're thinking maybe Bashan next time.

Nice bass; the river is still running high and fast. Went out with Scott on Wednesday and caught the usual. Sounds like Candlewood isn't a whole lot better although that is a nice bass. Is it still shallow at Latins cove? good fishing joe

I had to back in up to the muffler to launch and the weeds are still all over that launch. In fact, they had a company vacuuming the weeds out of the launch with two work boats, which backed up the ramp in and out. We waited 30 minutes to be able to pull out.

The guy warned me that E-Con was there and pulling people over who left the launch with ANY weeds on the trailer and it was a $100 fine. So we spent another 20 minutes getting all the milfoil off the trailer because it was loaded with it.

I'm going to stop fishing Housatonic until we get a a long dry spell. We watched it running on the way home. Still chocolate brown and fast, and I would guess 2-3' higher than normal, which makes for lousy fishing.

I think Candlewood's fine. it's just that taking last year off I'm having trouble locating spots on most of the larger lakes I've fished before that I had found before and basically having to start all over again. I guess I should start using the GPS to mark spots more. For example, I couldn't find the icebox or foundations off of Chimney point on Candlewood yesterday for nothing.

1. Nice report and good job on Candy

2. PLEASE.....edit the size of your photos....it makes for messy text responses in following posts in the same thread that look like crazy run on sentences and the words have no structure and sometimes you cant read it but sometimes you can and the words just keep going over and i have to scroll my browser over and over and i get lost and dont know what i read and then i have to read it over again and i end up reading 12 words and only understanding the first and last word and such.

3. Plz only read the first 23 words of number 2.

Mr. Crack,

I didn't realize the size of the pictures until after the fact. On another site I use they limit the size and bounce them if they are not resized. I'll do that when I get a chance to help people like you keep on track when reading my post.

Thanks for the heads up.
