Hit my spot in Riverton again this morning between 9:15 & 10:00 am. I had 45 minutes to kill so I did some speed fishing...lol. Same technique as last time (hook & worm). Got quite a few nibbles. Hooked up with a big trout. He was pulling the drag like mad. I tired him out a bit and started to bring him in. I got him to withing 10-15' of shore and the bugger went under a rock and threw the hook... Mad

Finally ended up hooking a nice 15" brownie. All in all it was a good morning.

Too bad losing the big one. Nice job for a short trip.

Thanks. Yeah...it was a bummer losing that one. None of the fish up there I have caught ever pulled the drag like that so it must have been a really big boy. Maybe next time.

That sounds like fun. I gotta put some more time into the Farmington. I'd like to catch some smallies outa there.

Decided not to post a new report since the conditions today were identical to my last two at the Farmington River. Overcast morning fishing with worms = trout.

I don't think it is as big as the one that got away last time but this will definitely make up for it...

Hooked up with this big boy on my first cast of the day. I ended up catching 6 fish in all but this is the only one I kept. It is 19" long and around 2-1/2lbs. The others were in the 12" to 14" range.

Dawg, do you mean trout worms or meal worms? And I am assuming hook, splitshot and worm fishing the deep holes correct?

Yup...you got it...I use a #6 or #8 snelled bait hook with trout worms and split shots. I fish the deeper holes in the river and just lay the worm out there and let the current take the bait into the hole. The fish usually hit while the worm is falling. I've found that as the weather gets warmer I need to get to the river earlier in the morning to get more bites.
