Woke up early this morning so decided to stop at a local pond for a few casts. Second cast I caught a 2 lber on this hole off a cement dam. Caught another pounder a few casts later. Caught both on this double weedless hooked rig with a imitation night crawler on it. Walked along the shore to the other fishable spot but no luck there.

Decided to call up my friend and convinced him to strap the canue up to his truck and head down. Fished for about 3 hours once we were on the water. This pond doesn't get much action at all, and it's usually all from shore. Hit a bunch of cookie cutter pounders. I got another 4 largies and my buddy caught 3. There were tons of weeds and lilly pads so we worked the lines off the lilly pads; I was killen 'em with a texas rigged baby bass yamamoto worm.

Glad the rain didn't come, for a little while it looked iffy. Water was murky and dark in the deeper areas. Lots of weeds around the edges of the pond, even more lillypads. Good times though, will definately be back soon.

Jim,

That could be but I'd be surprised. This pond seems like it's off most people's radar. I've rarely seen other people fishing there...though there are def some people that go. You can find beer cans, old line and sometimes even lures left behind (at which point I take said lures Wink ).

Heavyweight,

I'm not sure the name. It's on a lazy side road. Part of some land trust.

I might hit it back up tomorrow if it's not raining at any point...but if I do prob not on the canoe this time. Might try throwing a jig in that hole by the dam...I've got a crawfish jig set up which I think might work...though I'm not sure, I'm new to jigging...this might be the place to work on it though Smile

Heavy,

Seems like you are pretty familiar with local spots in Berlin. This is out closer to Middletown. I love those ponds on the side of Rt 9..been fishing there for years but haven't gone yet this year. Which local hole is your favorite?

Been doing good at the small ponds down the train tracks from train station. I really don't have a fav just usually hit the oddball places like ponds on sides of highways, golf courses are always good. I usually go wherever. Trying to expand more this year. I live right next to Batterson, but I don't try enough there.
