Hit Rainbow from 5:30 to 7:45. Electronics weren't working so I don't know what the water temp was. Caught 5 smallies and think only one of them was a keeper. X-rap perch got a couple takers when twitched, jerked and paused near cover (wood). Sweet Beaver (sprayed grass/oxblood) got 2 relating to laydowns. All were in 0-4 feet. It was fun, but felt like a lot of work for a handful of dinks. Better than not fishing! |

Nice job out there! Non keepers are better than nothing at all! Hope those electronics are working by next weekend, or we may be in for a rough outing _________________ Yankees Suck!

I'm hoping it's just a blown fuse. I'll check it out before T-time! |

Not a bad day.
I like that place, up until the water skiers come out..

You can go pretty far up river to avoid the skiers. I've caught all my better fish more in the river than the actual reservoir. I don't think you'll encounter skiers from just below the old bridge structure on up the river. But you're right...there are a number of pleasure crafts out there at times. |

I also just wanted to add that there were hundreds of empty beds. There are definitely fish in that place. A woman in nice tricked-out fishing kayak that I've seen a few times when I'm there had a great day a couple days ago catching both smallies and largemouths. She said she had a 5 pounder and a number of 2-3 pounders. All caught in 2-5 feet of water along the bank. The water level changes in the reservoir a lot. It can be 2, 3, even 5 feet difference one day to the next. I guess it just depends on what they're doing with the dam. |

phish........that lady your refering to her name is roxy. she fishes there often and does really well. i know her from another site. she can fish! she knows rainbow well.
there are some big fish in there. i have personally taken a few very nice smallies from there. i usually do not fish any further up then the old bridge. its a decent place if you hit it right. i have found current plays a decent roll there with the fish bite. anyway nice report. i used to throw that jerkbait alot for smallies all year round. |
