I apologise in advance for the lack of details, but with tournies coming up I cant.

First cast of the day was a good one. I make a long cast and about two cranks of the reel later, I hook up! I didn't know what Ihad at first, I was thinking a good striper. This thing made a couple of long runs ripping out drag! I got it a little closer, and I saw a nice pike. I have never had a pike fight like this before, in total it ran deep and far about 7 or 8 times. I got it close and Ireached down,and it started to thrash, almost ripping the rod right out of my hand. After it did a nice backflip about 3 ft out of rhe water, it rolled onto it's back. I grabbed it and it was a good 32-34". I've caught bigger, but not this year. I even had an audience behind me!

Now for the frustrating part. I get the urge to try a lure I've never had much success with. I'm reeling it in at a steady pace when out of no where this MONSTER smallie nails it. This thing dove down, and then on his way back up, it made a run right at me. As I struggle to get tension back, she jumps and spit the hook. Crying or Very sad

I find myself screaming out obscenities! Folks, you hear about footballs , well this was a basketball. Bigger than any LMB I've ever caught. Easily 5 lbs, maybe pushing 6

Not a total loss, but this fish will be haunting me in my sleep.

Hopefully the sox kick some yankee ass tonight!!!!!!

Especially sucks before a big tournament..dont get sucked in by it though..it can be a real mind F%$k.

Good luck with that plan, most likely that fish is gone, and will not stay right where you caught her. Unless the food source happens to stay as well.
