I decided to fish the Farmington River this morning, up in Riverton. Got there at 7:00am and left about 11:00am. Had a good day. I ended up catching 5 brown trout on trout worms. The best fishing was between 9:00am and 10:00am. They all ranged from 12" up to 17". Here's a pic of the river and a couple of the fish I hooked.

I thought about it but I didn't. Maybe next time. The best thing about catch and release is hopefully I can catch 'em again next week  |

I hear you...trout do taste much better than the bass. If I caught one closer to 20" I would have definitely cooked it up for dinner  |

| I didn't have anything to weigh them with but I'm guessing the biggest one was just under 2 lbs based on length and girth. |

Riverton is a nice spot, with rivers on both sides of the town, it's easy to find a place to yourself.
shame it's so far out of the way. i'm down in Rocky Hill and it's a bit of a hike...yet i find myself doing it at least once a month, if not more.

Nice fish! Im glad you had a good time! However, just for future thought. When you want to release fish, dont put them on the ground. ESPECIALLY TROUT!! Those fish indefinetly died. Once the slimecoat is gone, that's the end of them. The slimecoat protects the fish from fungus, disease and it allows them to swim! When you bring them in, wet your hands, handle them as little as possible and let them go. It's that easy!
Just a thing to think about next time!

Justin's right. I've actually caught trout that had a clearly discernable hand print on their body that was due to handling without wetting hands. Trout slimecoats are extremely easy to mess up.
