I felt like redeeming myself today after being schooled by two family members over the weekend. I figure if I go by myself I have a better chance Wink

After work, I stopped at a small pond in Essex. Caught a 1lb LMB on a YUM worm. I also caught another small bass that never really had a chance to fight. My phone rang, so I picked it up, next thing I know, my line starts moving to the side. I quickly set the hook. I set the hook so hard, I pulled the fish right out of water and onto land. It couldn't have been more than 7 - 8". There was a guy in a small row boat out there with some home made paddle. It broke out there and he was trying to maneuver to his spot. Instead he just kept spinning in circles. I had to laugh at that one.

After that I stopped at Falls River in Centerbrook where I caught two more bass both on a yozuri minnow (Rainbow Trout patter). Neither bass was all that great, maybe 1# at most. But nonetheless they were fun on light tackle. That's what it all comes down to right? As long as you had fun... it's a good day.

After dinner, I decided I'd try the DR town docks before sunset. Caught a smallie (barely a keeper) on the same yozuri. Sooooo fun on light tackle. Once dark came, I tried some topwater. Something kept exploding on my zara spook, but never got hooked. I figured maybe something with more noise would work better. I switched to a buzz bait, but got nothing there either. Not the best day, but better than being schooled!!!

Bosox, That pond in Essex, I've caught Big bass up to 4.5 lbs in there. 3's were common at my lunch time 30 minute outing. The past 2 years I haven't gotten anything larger than about 2 lbs, and not many either. . Not sure what happened in there.

See the BIG orange fish ? What's up with that! Looks like someone let a gold fish go !
You fish a lot of the waters I grew up fishing, maybe I'll see you out there !

Yeah, I believe it's a coy. I've been disapointed in the past few years as well with the lack of production that place has displaced. One of my biggest bass I've ever caught came out of the pond. A little over 5lbs. That was probably 4 years ago, maybe more. Boy does time fly. The bucket brigade likes to hang out there from time to time, so I'd imagine that has something to do with the lack of big fish. I still see a couple every now and then, but they are few and far between. If you look in Esox CT's photo gallery, you will see a good fish that he caught on his home made popper there.

That pond is NASTY ! ! I wouldn't even think of eating ANYTHING out of there ! !
Yep, it was about 4-5 years ago that it was HOT there..
It's my little test pond for new lures, and fishing rod set ups Wink

Well... I'm sure you've seen what the bucket brigade looks like around here. They don't care, as long as they don't have to pay for it, they'll eat it. I'm going to start bringing chinese leftovers so they stop taking the fish Wink

BTW, there still are some big bass in there, I saw a few today. One exploded on my buzzbait a couple times, but wouldn't take it. Ended up with two dinks.
