I decided to go fishing for a little while with my father yesterday. We started out at Pratt Cove on an incoming tide. He tossed a small yozuri jerk bait under the bridge and let it sit in the current, I was on the other side, and I hear a big splash. I look over and he's got a good one.

He caught it using a small push button reel, a 4'8" ugly stick rigged with 4lb test. He swears by those push button reels, he won't use anything else but I guess it works. This fish took him under a rock, and stayed there for a while, he finally pulls it out, and fights it some more. I'm trying to land the fish for him, meanwhile he slips and falls down. I finally lipped the bass, and it was a good one. Unfortunately he forgot to check his line afterwards, and the next cast the lure snapped off in the air.

After fishing there a little while longer, we moved on to DR Docks where he ended up with another nice bass caught on a tube jig. He was vertically jigging in between two rocks.

He ended up with 6 bass, these being his two best, a couple sunnys, and one rock bass. Me on the other hand, I got one sunny... i guess it's better than nothing, but shit did he school me!

Went later in the day with Esox, where I managed to redeem myself a little bit with a bass.

We went today for a bit, but I'm sure he'll do the report, so that soon to come.

I can't believe he got that lunker on that little Yozuri minnow, and on 4 lb test! Right place at the right time I guess. We should get dad to join the site too.

It makes me think though, that if he caught it on that little minnow, the forage must be small as well. This is common after the spawn. He should join, but I doubt he will.
