First time Out shorefishing, many weeks of anticipation was capped off with great dissapointment.. Got out around 9am, started at Fort trumball, which was dead as a graveyard, the only catch was crab by some guy at the the end of the pier.

Left the Fort about 12 and went to Ferry Landing, Fished up and down the shore using, Shrimp, Bunker, Squid, Sand Worms, Sluggos, and Poppers...Nothing at all.

Anyone have any luck?

I was fishing the Old Lyme area last weekend also and had similar luck. Only thing I happened to catch was a massive sand eel which I left on the hook hopeing for a big striper to come along but no such luck.

I tried fishing the Ferry Landing DEP pier on Sunday morning. The guy next to me walked away with 2 stripers (both of which I doubt were 28 inches) but I had no such luck. Pretty sure he was using sandworms (same as me) It ended up pouring though, so I didn't stay long.

I usually shore fish from Old Lyme every weekend, so I'll try and let you know when it picks up.

Went to Hamonassett Fri night and DEP pier Sun night...absolutely nothing except an eel my wife caught so I threw it back out in hopes of getting a striper too...nothing. Did see a guy catch one just shy of a keeper and a bigger one break another guy off.

it is just starting to pick up. Try fishing outgoing tide just after slack.

Can anyone recommend a party boat charter? I figure maybe if i go out one day on a charter, better chance of catching some nice fish.
