Hit the water later in the day around 2:30 pm just to kill a few hours with a buddy from the firehouse.

He was going to teach me how to fish.... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Lite wind, clear water to about 4', water temps were about 60degs.

He was using everything he had in his tackle box (everything he purchased from the Walmart sporting good section).

I whipped out the wacky rig (I know works good at this lake). The count was 3 (his fish count, all around 1lb) to my 16 (1-3lbs).

After I caught the 3 pounder he asked how to use a wacky rig. Wink

We ended the day 8 - 22. All in all a good day of fishing. I can honestly say I can't remember when I caught so many bass in one day.

PS.

Went Stiper fishing Friday with SkeeterJim on the CTRiver in the Haddem area.
Nothing, we caught nothing. We met up with a few other guys on the river who were having the same lousy luck,

I'll hafta try that wacky rig!! Sounds like a fun day.

Where in Haddam did you go for stripers? Were you guys trolling or locked onto a spot? Ya know what always looks good up there is the south side of the bridge on an outgoing tide. It makes a SICK eddy after the bridge piling. I'm sure there's some stripers in there, catfish prob too. If I had a boat...

Speaking of wacky rigging, do you guys have weed issue's? When I wacky rig, I always cast out and let it hit the bottom, but then I get all weeded up. Any suggestions? BTW, was that Scovill's you were at? Thanks.

Richep,

Yes it was. As for the wacky rig, they do have weedless hooks. I don't use them but I have seem them. I typically don't let it hit they bottom, maybe that's why I don't get snagged on to much stuff.

Esox,

We went by the haddem bridge, sand bars by the islands, flats near the essex marina. We even tried the rich pile by the crane.

Nothing.
