Fatality, welcome to the site. If you live in Bristol the first place I would go and try is Bantam Lake, one of the best bass and pike lakes in CT. Probably about 30-40 minute drive from Bristol. Can get crazy now that Memorial Day weekend is upon us and the parking lot is limited so get there early on the weekends. Good luck! Very Happy

Do you have a boat? Or do you mainly fish from shore? Honestly, I do not know Bristol at all, so I can't be of any help there. The best advice I can give you, is download google earth, and scope around to see what is close to you. There's plenty of spots around no matter where you live, you just gotta find them. Try the CT River, there's so much variety, you never know what you might get. Plus for a beginner, it's a good start to learning. Versatility is key. You must figure out how tides affect fish's feeding patterns, weather, what lures to use for certain situations. Once you get that down, you're pretty much golden! It may be frustrating at first, but stick with it, and you'll do fine! Welcome aboard

The Ct river goes right down the middle of Ct, if you go west on route 72, then take route 9 like your going to I-91, you will run right into it. I-91 runs almost lateral or horizantal, its right next to it almost. Cant miss it.

Bantam has very few shoreline access because most of it is someone's backyard. Definitely need a boat for maximum coverage.

For good river shore spots, follow Rt. 9 South. From Rocky Hill down to Old Saybrook there's plenty of shore access. Some spots are really good, some spots are not. If you go to any of the marinas, don't be suprised if you get hassled by the boat owners/dockmasters.

River staples would be spinnerbaits, swimbaits, Rapala X Raps, jigs, soft plastic worms.Good luck!
