I had "one of those days," so I decided seeing some water would do me some good. I had a couple rods in the car, so I headed to Batterson on the way home from work. Made a few casts in one spot with a "little booger" swimbait (3:16 Lure Company) then moved into the trees into another spot to the right of the ramp. Made a nice backhand cast under some branches and just beyond a little laydown and got a nice little 1.5 largie on a sweet beaver in about a foot of water.
Just what the doctor ordered. It's amazing how one fish can change the complexion of the day. |

Yep. Just realized in re-reading my report that I didn't mention that I was on the bank. Anyway...it always feel good to catch a fish wearing loafers and a business shirt. |

I was at Batterson on Sat about 330 with my bro in law. We were fishing from the dam where the spillway is and he snagged a perch while bringing in his lure. He was just about to bring the fish up to him when something big came up and attacked the perch like 4 times before taking off. Any thoughts? I'm guessing maybe a pike or a big bass. _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Thanks Sal! I deserve that. I need to start having a camera on me at all times.
Heavyweight - There are supposed to be some pretty good walleye in that pond. Someone pulled a huge pike out of there either last year or the year before (though it's not supposed to have pike in it), and there are definitely a few decent bass in there. I've never caught one over 3 out of there, but you here the occasional whisper about 4s and 5s. |

I've seen the pic of the pike that came out of there at NB Baitshop...38". I figured it might have been a big walleye. I can honestly say I've never caught anything worth mentioning out of there, but I think I'm really going to try this year. I just hate fishing the launch there because of New Britain's finest always hanging around _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

I hear you on the people. The shore gets so beat up everywhere that's accessable at that place. I have an inflatable kayak (pumps up in about 3 minutes) that I think I may start keeping in my car. That's how I did most of my fishing there last year. I know exactly where they spawn in that lake and I need to go check out the spot soon! I got there too late last year. |

Phish, you better get there soon if your looking for spawning fish, because fish are on the beds almost everywhere right now, and for the last week maybe more, they will be done spawning soon, especially in that small pond. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
