I got out for a few minutes after work. I launched at 6:45 and was back on the trailer at 8:25. I Caught 10 Largies on a dropshot all in shallow water. biggest 2.5 lbs off a bed in 3 feet. I think that there were a lot of fish on beds but I couldn't see much due to the sun going down and the chop on the water. |

No smallies? Are they spawning yet in Bashan? |

I only saw largies on one bed, I assume i got some of the other ones off beds judging on how the hit and toss back to the same spot and they hit again. over the past few years it seems that there are fewer and fewer smallies in bashan.

temp 61.7 at the bow. water clarity kinda hard to give you a real accurate guess with the fading light and chop on the water, good guess 7 to 9 feet, the lake is no where as clear as it was 3 or 4 years ago, every year it gets darker. |

Esox and I tried out Bashan for a little bit today. The water was very rough. Wind was very strong, and the bite was slow. I was amazed at the clarity of the water. It seems like it's a very tough lake to fish, anybody else feel the same way? I'd imagine the conditions weren't the best, and we had trouble finding the fish, and picking up patterns. I would like to go back on a calm day and try it again. Only caught one fish each. Crappie for me, bass for him, and bass for our buddy. Nothing that great. _________________ Yankees Suck!

I would think that if the largies are on beds, like they are everywhere else, that the smallies are all done bedding. Smallies usually bed in slightly cooler water temps than largies, they are probably post spawn by now, by a couple weeks at least. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
