started off the day with a friend at wintergreen from shore and only had one fish.... moved on to mackenzie res for a few and saw a few nice fish on beds including one that rough weight range would be between 4-6 easy; couldn't get it to bite and the minute it started raining the fish vanished.

caught 1 bass there as well and a snapping turtle with a shell the size of a garbage can lid... snapped the line before i could get it to shore.

went to wharton brooke later that night with the same friend and while he fished from shore i threw on the waders and was waist deep. picked up 5 bass and 1 trout and then hooked into something moving but it wasnt a trout or bass. go figure another snapping turtle. grabbed it by the tail and brought it to shore quick to get my rooster tail back......fun times landing a heavy thing like that on a ultralight with 4lb test Shocked

anyways.... its great to see the stuff in the water with you huh.... take care~

That's not something you see everyday. There's a pond that I fish near my parents house, and I always see little painted turtles follow my worm in, occasionally they bite off the tail. You should have kept that for a pet.

Were the snappers injured? I'm a big fan of turtles, I happened to raise an abandoned snapping turtle from a baby to just under the size of the one in that photo and released it . I also have a painted turtle I've had for 9 years.

the one at macks was hooked in the beak but no damage was done. hook few out the minute the line snapped and the tension was released

the other was hooked in the foot; must have been swimming by as i reeled in my roostertail, but once again the lure fell straight out. no blood or anything

i was fishing the overpass (tunnel) at macks

Nicely done. It's amazing theres anything left for the bass to eat there with those dinos cruisin around in there. Ecosystems are a funny thing I guess.
