You better put a stronger one than that on that old heavy boat.
A 55lb. thrust will move it ok in calm conditions, but factor in 20mph winds, and you will be paddling home. It would be worth it to wait an extra month, save up, and spend the extra $200 and get a 70 to 74lb. thrust, 24 volt trolling motor. I have a 55lb. 12 volt minn kota on my 16 foot aluminum, and I wouldn't go any smaller than that. Your boat is an older fiberglass model, much heavier, just food for thought........ _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Try NYbass.com classifieds and craigslist......usually motors out there to be found.
I agree with Gary...I have a 17 ft old heavy glass boat and like the 82# MG I have for it. Anything less would be problematic. Bigger is usually not a problem.
Makre sure to post a pic once you have it rigged.
