I know a lake that produced lots of nice LMB. Mostly in the spring and fall. But in mid summer like July they just totaly shut down. I know they spawn and kinda have an idea about that but not so good... does anyone have a good opoinon on this?

You fishing from shore or boat??
Bass spawn around this time of year depending on water temps 60 degrees and they will start to bed and the moon cycle. If you are fishing in the hot summer you should fish earlier in the morning and at dusk .
What kind of baits are you using ? look for shade and any type of cover

Yeah in the mid summer weeks, when the water temps are really up there, the bass may be in deeper water. Thats when you have to spot them in deep structure and pull out a jig or the drop shot..
Best spots would probably be deep holes with a quick route to a shallow haunt.
Like Pete said...If you're fishing from the shore, the best time is definatly from 8pm on...

I have the summers off, so I spend most of my days on the water bass fishing. I find that even on HOT summer days you can still produce plenty of nice bass. I fish from a boat and usaually us rubbers around the shoreline in heavy cover your sure to finds some lunkers. Even in 6 inches of water. If casting from shore try casting down the shoreline into cover from branches or bushes. You'll probably lose some tackle here and there but the pay off will be good.

I have a small boat but the thing is that the lake is kinda shallow so by mid summer it get hot so thats slows em down. I like to use a dark rubber worm and go slow wit it in and around structure.

Bass tend to feed at low light times. Ever notice that bass seem more active when it's raining or overcast? Dawn and dusk? Shady areas are good for those hot summer days. But when you can't find a decent shady area, go for submerged cover and structure. Dropoffs produce a lot of fish for me as do weed beds, and stumps. Rocks are good too. Look for streams flowing into the body of water, because often times that water is cooler than the lake water. Those also produce eddys that can sometimes trap in baitfish, and bass will wait near the eddy for an easy meal. Top water comes alive when it's dark out. Poppers, prop baits, jitter bugs, they're all good. Try to use something that makes noise so the fish can hear it. Try to fish slow: jigs, soft plastics, spinner baits(slow rolling), and aim for deeper water. I do 95% of my fishing from shore, it gets a little tough in those types of conditions, but if you know what to use, and how to use it you should be fine.

Ive been out on the lake for early mornings (my favorite time) and well into the night and have cought plenty of bass, but this place just dies durring midday. I guess its shallow and gets to warm by midsummer. Ill have to try more at night.

I don't think we can talk about night time bass fishing without mentioning the black spinner bait !! Caught my personal best on a black spinnerbait with colorado blades, just yo-yo it off the bottom and hang on

ive noticed dark colors work out realy good durring the day but cant say ive tried it at night... ill give it a shot next itme
