Buddy and I got out on Silver Lake around 830 this morning in a canoe. We started by fishing the shallows on the right of the boat launch, just a little bit past the white bucket bandits. That shore produced a small bass, probably just under a pound. Next decided to fish a little deeper, I picked up one on a perch colored X-rap, REALLY small fish.... Probably half a pound at best. We moved over to the dropoffs located across from the boat launch and my friend picked up a couple that were a bit over a pound each on a watermelon senko. Then came the best part of the trip.... I hook into something that doesnt exactly feel like weeds, but doesnt really feel like a fish either? Lo and behold I had hooked into a spinning rod and reel that had been lost to the bottom of the lake...go figure!! I tried to get a pic, but it fell off. :cry:That alone was worth the trip, we had a good laugh... We moved from the left side of the lake back around the island in the back and found a couple more bass and 3-4 small to pretty good size pickerel. Overall, beautiful day, wind was pretty calm, and we ended up with around 7 bass and 3 picks on the day. Great day on the water!

Good job! Sounds a hell of a lot better than my frustrating day, but we all have those every now and then.

a buddy of mind (not the smart guy I know) threw a brand new rod in that place by accident. It was his first cast on his first rod/reel and it went right in the drink. he was to afraid to dive in after it. We almost pissed ourselves. Good times.

Thats funny about the spinning setup. A few weeks ago I was out on Candlewood and caught a pair of dirty old boxers on a silver buddy. We had a good laugh with that one.

Pete,

I went to Silver on Sunday AM. I had about the same luck as you (Less the hooking the rod/reel). The wind was a little rough.

We got off around 11, just in time. That place filled up fast. I counted 12 boats when I was leaving.

Not always. Just gotta know where the big uns hang. In the past 3 seasons there I have caught a 7.2, 5.4, 5.8 & 4.12 which is pretty damn good for a lake that seems like the bass are starving. But as you said that place is great for cookie-cutter bass.
