Had a few minutes to kill yesterday afternoon. Took my ultra light down to the Pequabuck. I had a small panther martin 1/16 oz yellow with red dots. I could not believe the action. I caught a limit of rainbow trout in 20 minutes!!! The biggest was pretty close to a 2 lber! Of course I had no camera with me. I never thought I would see that quality of a fish in there. A 17" fish in the Pequabuck!!!! I know they stock it with Salmon fingerlings but with 2 lb rainbows, holy crap!!! I threw them all back to enjoy for another day. I also saw the biggest racoon ever. It had to weigh 40 lbs.
The river was pretty shallow yesterday. The fish I caught were in water no deeper than knee high. 20 - 30 years ago the river was pretty nasty, smelly and green. The water clearity was excellent. they have been doing a nice job keeping it clean. I dont think I would eat the fish, but it sure was fun.

I had to go back again today. I caught 3 more. Brown trout I think. Lost 3
lures. Still worth it. 12 inchers. There were a few live bait guys fishing there today. Didnt see anyone catching. Should be a great weekend. Can't wait to get back on the boat |

Went back again today!!! It must be luck. Most of you wont believe it but I caught another 9 today. All browns and one Brookie. I took pictures. I'll post the brookie if you want to see others I'll email them to you.

What part of the Pequabuck? Near the center of town near Nuccis? BTW...the racoon probably had rabies...bring a gun

| The Pequabuck runs along Rt72 in Bristol for the most part. I did most of my fishing through the park area. I have heard that along the Boulevard is good also. Most people use live bait (worms). To much of a hassle for me. If you know where Muzzy Field is you're in good shape. Seems the best spots are where its hard to get to. Definately not good for little ones. The trout I have caught seemed to be in shallow or suttle depresions. Kinda like where you think they would be. It's a good hold over till this cold front passes |

| The parking is ok behind Muzzy. Down further behind the LL fields its pretty tuff. They are doing some construction it's muddy as hell. I wouldnt park along the road anywhere. The cops in Bristol will ticket you. You can park and walk the edges pretty easily. I did see a few guys fishing today. I'm going to try a little further east next week. Finally going to fish for bass Fri,Sat, Sun. |
