From what I hear, its supposed to be a beautiful day: 70's and sunny. I don't really know that part of the river, but if its the main river your fishing, you should try to get to the spot on an incoming or high tide. If its backwater, look for moving water such as an eddy, or current breaks. Keep an eye out for baitfish and/or birds too. Good luck! |

R u fishing from a boat? If yes, shoot up the river toward white oaks cove and see if you see any bait fish running for their lives. If not, that place holds a lot of lmb, but it is tuff when flooded. I still think RH is better in May. They are being caught in the mouth of the ct river and the mouth of the thames. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

It's kind of early,..but you can still find a scattered striper here and there. Mostly small ones though so far according to my local baitshop! Sandworms and fluke-type baits fished deep on a jighead are accounting for most of them!
On the outgoing tides fish drops at the mouths of the coves,...on the incoming tides at low-light times fish the shallow flats.
Other times,..just fish for bass or pike! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

That's probably what I'm going to do. I'm just going to mess around. I got a new reel and some new swim baits I want to try out _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Im about to start concentrating on the rocky hill and portland areas for stripers over the next month or so. Ive had some luck in those areas last year but i didnt go as much as i wanted to. When i get out there more ill report on the situation. Over the weekend the mouth of the ct river produced alot of small schoolies but thats it. |

I was out on Saturday fishing for largies and ended up catching about 5 stripers on 8 lb test and 3 were at least 20 inches or more. I went all the way up Chester Creek to the second bridge. Those suckers a fun to catch on light line. |
