Fishing bluebird skies, on a freezing cold morning, after a coldfront, with 20-30mph wind blows.

Couldnt open my rod lockers, or any compartment for that matter. Thanks to fishing in yesterdays pouring rain, the temp must of hit 25 or so last night because my boat was frozen. Didnt get to any of my stuff until 9 30 or so.

Ant was nice enough to let me toss his jerkbait rod around as well as his jig rod. I botched the line on the jerkbait rod almost immediately with an impressive line tangle. Picked up the jig and started tossing it on a western shoreline with a 45 degree bank. Wasnt long before I got hit on the fall, set the hook, and new I was in for some fun. Thought it was bigger then it was, but a fine looking 5lb 1oz largie came into the boat.

Ant followed it up almost immediately with a 1.5 on a grub and we struggled to catch a few 6in rats and a few slimedarts shallow on crankbaits.

Home by 1 for easter dinner.

Speaking of warmer weather... this week looks pretty good, but it is New England so I'm not going to get my hopes up... Confused

Its not the lake bro, nor the color. Just happened to fish the right area (if you can say that with 2 fish to show for it) and put it in front of um.

Ditto that,...this time of year there are going to be some big fish up cuising the shallows in just about any lake out there and food is scarce, so these fish are looking for just about anything to feed on! So if you happen to toss your bait next to it you will generally get bit. But with the water still cold it tends to be more of a size thing and not a numbers thing and it's a little more luck than skill (IMO).
The good news is,.. that as the water gets warmer and warmer, you will get more and more fish moving up and the numbers will improve (leading into the spawn)! Very Happy

So Nick, not going to answer the question of where this nice fish was caught? Would be interesting to see, as probably most of are always curious...
