Fished the river a little bit today with Esox CT. Started out by the boat launch in East Haddam, put the waders on and worked the shoreline going towards the mouth of the Salmon River. Not sure of the water temperature but I would estimate somewhere in the mid 40's. I caught a big pickerel, it was short but had the girth of a pike. Probably the biggest one I've ever seen. Got him on an X-Rap. Esox caught a nice bass, probably around 2-2.5 #'s. Couldn't get very far up because the water level was so high. Later we went up to Hamburg Cove where I caught another nice pickerel and a nice larry. Not a great day, but it's better than the skunk. Will have pictures up soon!

Caught at Salmon River Mouth on Black and Gold X-Rap
Esox CT holding a bass at Salmon River mouth caught on Yozuri Jerk bait black and gold
Like my Gorton's Gear????? Caught at Hamburg Cove on same X-Rap
Water level at Salmon River looked like high tide but in actuallity it was low tide...

| Aside from the coloring/pattern, and the shape/color of the anal and dorsal, that looks like a pike. Look at that face! Yea, I'm glad we pushed our luck at the Salmon. Can't wait for that water level to go down and the stained water to deminish so we can do it again, AND HOPEFULLY GET SOME PIKE!! |
