i use berkley vanish on every rod except cranks and topwaters. all plastics and jigs are on 8-14 lb. vanish and i have never had a problem with it. for some reason i have had a very tough time with the transition version of the line though. i will never even try that stuff again. |

I really do like the idea of the vanish, transition just seemed kinda cool addon, I do have 1 more spinning reel that needs fresh line, maybe i'll try the normal vanish on that. and lose more fish... |
Oh...it's transition........... BURN IT!!!!! |

yes! that stuff is garbage! i bought 2 spools for the beginning of this yearand it was off after the first trip. i was using 10 lb. transition in red and it seemed like it had the line strength of around 4 or 6 lb. test. i can't tell you how many knots broke on me just tying on a lure with a palomar and wetting it. i remember i had to make three attempts to tie on one lure because the line kept breaking while trying to tighten the knot.
if i remember correctly i think one of the reels i completely unspooled and changed line right on the boat.
ct fishtalk i have tried the iron silk line and i liked it. the only thing i don't like is that it is like braid in which it's not transparent at all so it can be seen by the fish easier. i don't use much braided line for that reason but i do have to say that i prefer heavy test iron silk over braid anyday. |

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. At least you can look at it this way, you should never have that happen to you again. |

Well I guess I'll put my thoughts on Vanish and transition.Lets start by saying I love transition.I've been using transition for two or three years and haven't had really any problems to speak of.Ialso use berkley maxx for mono Love it.I've landed some really nice fish with them both.I change my line at least 2 times a year or as needed.Does anybody else do that? |
